Northern Workroom was presented with a challenge: the homeowners had a limited budget and desired to expand their property. After careful consideration, we determined that reconfiguring the layout was a more practical solution than extending the property. By doing so, we were able to take a sustainable approach and optimize the existing footprint of the ground floor flat.
Our design approach involved relocating the bedrooms to the front of the property and connecting the open plan kitchen, living, and dining room to the private garden at the rear. This enabled the homeowners to live in a more logical and functional space that suits their lifestyle.
Additionally, we identified an opportunity to reduce the amount of corridor space within the flat by shifting the location of the side access, which was already situated at the property's entrance. This simple move resulted in an increased amount of usable square meterage without the need to extend the property, a win-win for both the homeowners and the environment.
